Adama Robotics – UK's Leading Educational Robotics Company

At Adama Robotics, we believe that the best way to understand how robots work is to build one from scratch.

As the great philosopher Confucius famously stated:

"What I hear, I forget; What I see, I remember; What I do, I understand."

With that in mind, we came up with the following concept. Let’s specify a simple but sufficiently powerful robot, and have students, hobbyists and educators build it from the ground up, starting with nothing more than the various components of the robot, followed by assembling these components and finally doing the programming. And while we are at it, let’s do it right. We say this because building a robot from first principles can be a huge undertaking.

Our aim at Adama Robotics is to show with the clarity that the most fundamental ideas and techniques in robotics, the very essence of the field are not as abstract and difficult as they may seem and to teach more people to appreciate the beauty of the picture at large.

Building a robot is simpler and easier than what many people think. The overall interactions between hardware and software are simple and transparent enough to be learned even by people who may consider themselves not to be techie or computer-savvy.

Therefore, we identified a unique educational opportunity not only to build the robot, but also to illustrate, in a hands-on fashion, how to effectively plan and manage the building of the robot and its programming.

A reader of the instructions manual who takes the time and effort to gradually build the robot will gain a level of intimate understanding unmatched by mere reading. Hence, the educational robotics kit is geared toward active readers who are willing to roll up their sleeves and build a robot from the ground up.

In addition, we sought to demonstrate the ability to construct, through recursive ascent and human reasoning, a fantastically beautiful and useful robot from nothing more than a few primitive building blocks.

 Stay hungry, stay foolish.
